with period loss and unpredictable cycles ready to get pregnant even when eating super healthy, cutting back on cardio and fertility treatments aren't working

5 Foundations of Your Fertility (So That You Can Ovulate, Cycle, Get and Stay Pregnant)

Listen to today’s episode to learn the 5 foundations of your fertility. Because for you, you’ve reached the point in your fertility journey where you know way more about fertility than you ever expected to know.

You’ve read the books. Listened to the podcasts. Researched your labs. Changed the way you eat. Cut back on cardio. Tried the supplements. Researched treatment options.

And yet, you’re still asking:

Why am I not consistently ovulating, cycling, or getting pregnant?

At this point, more fertility information probably isn’t what you’re missing. The missing piece may be understanding what actually applies to your unique body—and having the support to implement those changes consistently.

In this episode of the Nourished Fertility Podcast, I’m sharing a portion of a live training where I teach the five foundations we use inside our practice to support ovulation and fertility.

Whether you’re navigating hypothalamic amenorrhea and period loss, irregular cycles from PCOS/PMOS, unexplained infertility, low AMH, POI, or you’re preparing your body for IVF, these foundations allow us to look beyond the surface-level hormone imbalance and investigate what may be happening underneath it.

Our five-step methodology is to reignite, replenish, regulate, repair, and restore.

First, we reignite your metabolism.

Your metabolism helps determine how efficiently your body turns the raw materials from food into usable energy—and reproduction requires energy. In the episode, we talk about signs that your metabolic health may need additional support, including low basal body temperatures, constantly feeling cold, waking between 2:00–4:00 AM, headaches, blood sugar crashes, fatigue, and disrupted cycles or ovulation.

Next, we replenish nutrients.

Healthy hormone production, ovulation, egg development, uterine health, and early pregnancy all require adequate nutritional building blocks. And eating what you consider a “super healthy” diet doesn’t automatically mean your body has everything it needs—especially after years of dieting, restriction, high exercise demands, or avoiding multiple food groups.

Foundation three is to regulate your nervous system.

And no, this does not mean quitting your job, eliminating every stressful situation, or meditating for hours every day. Nervous system regulation is about building your capacity to appropriately move between sympathetic “fight or flight” and parasympathetic “rest and digest” states—and developing greater resilience to the stress that naturally exists in your life.

Then we repair your gut.

You can eat nutrient-dense foods and take the supplements, but your body still needs to digest, absorb, and utilize those nutrients. We talk about symptoms like bloating, constipation, diarrhea, reflux, food sensitivities, low ferritin, persistent nutrient deficiencies, fatigue, skin concerns, and chronic inflammation—and why digestive health may deserve a closer look even if you don’t have obvious gut symptoms.

Finally, we restore healthy hormones.

Here’s the part I really want you to understand: your hormones are not operating in isolation.

Think of hormone production like a table supported by four legs: metabolic health, nutrient status, nervous system regulation, and gut health. If one or more of those legs is struggling, the entire foundation can become unstable.

That’s why hormonal changes can be the final domino to fall.

Instead of looking only at low estrogen, low progesterone, an imbalanced LH-to-FSH ratio, elevated testosterone, thyroid markers, missing ovulation, or irregular periods, we want to ask the bigger question:

Why is your body producing these hormonal patterns in the first place?

Throughout this episode, I also share real client examples illustrating how individualized investigation and personalized support informed the plans we created around these five foundations.

Because your fertility journey is uniquely yours—and your plan should reflect that.

If you’re ready to stop piecing together fertility advice on your own and want personalized support investigating what your body needs, applications are open for the Nourished Fertility Method, our six-month program that includes extensive functional fertility lab testing and personalized support.
